When you’re busy juggling meetings and deadlines, it can be easy to overlook the design of your office, but the look and feel of your immediate environment matters. A joyful, work-friendly space can inspire productivity – it might even banish those Monday morning blues!

To inspire you to make your office work for you, let us take you through the design of this enchanting office in the Swiss city of Zurich, overlooking the north-western edge of the eponymic lake. Effectively organised into a trio of zones, each with a distinct purpose, the space’s overall look and layout find harmony through a consistent palette of restful greys, rich dark woods and iridescent brushed brass. This is enlivened with a big, bold hit of graphic pattern introduced through an extra-large, botanical-silk MILFORD rug, while pretty highlights of blossoming lilac are integrated through cushions, artworks and accessories – all items that are easy to change should you wish to tweak the design in the future.

Positioned adjacent to the window, the office’s principal workspace makes the most of the natural daylight and pairs the standout LIMA desk with the classic RESTELO chair and casual MONACO bench, while the low-level DRESDEN TV unit provides storage and space for display. Nearby, an area dedicated to meetings and collaborative working is created with the impactful QUEENSLAND dining table, which reaches 240 centimetres in length, and the spindle-back SAINT-DENIS armchairs. The third zone is a quiet, contemplative corner – the ideal spot to take a work break ¬– that combines the cocooning KANSAS Sofa, HO CHI MINH side table, which is cantilevered so it can nestle over the seat, and the slender ATHENS floor lamp.

The result is unique, stylish and functional – it’s hard to imagine having a bad day at work in this office space!
