Personal Touches

Accessories are the all-important personal touches that make a house into a home. They’re things such as mirrors, objects, artworks and vases, all of which help to complete a space, give it character and create a sense of cohesion. Without accessories, a room can feel like it has no soul – but how should we choose and arrange them? Read on for a few tips on how to accessorise your home like a pro.

When choosing accessories for display, aim to collect pieces over time and select only objects that speak to you. Rather than being influenced by the latest interiors trends, our mirrors, vases and trays all have a timeless appeal.

Use height and scale to help the eye travel around a room. In a living space, a tall mirror-like our PADUA design, can add vertical interest and works well with high ceilings, while a grouping of minimalist mirrors such as the DURBAN can create an eye-catching focal point above a chest of drawers, console or cabinet.

You don’t always have to hang an artwork or mirror. Try leaning and overlapping them against a wall for a more casual display that’s super easy to switch up should the mood strike.

Make a statement by placing vases such as our NAIROBI, CUBIC or OSLO designs in groups for greater impact. Mixing vases of varying heights will also give arrangements greater prominence.

To keep displays looking organised and visually satisfying, try mixing in our lacquered wood VISEU I, LASSA or AVEIRO I trays, using them to group smaller items such as candles or bud vases together.

Think about positioning accessories at different levels throughout a room. A simple way to do this is by using stacks of books as decorative pedestals to give your chosen object a little lift.
