This week, we’re taking an in-depth look at craftsmanship across our collection. At FRATO, we’ve built long-standing relationships with local craftsmen around Portugal. Using practices passed down between generations, they add the something-special to each piece we design. This is why – be it a sofa or a stool – each item we create is made to last and be loved forever.

While every piece we design is stunning from afar, the true beauty is revealed when you take a closer look. We adorn many of our designs with handmade finishing touches such as tassels. These tassels are made from natural components sourced from across the globe.

As well as natural silk, we use stones such as mother of pearl, jade, agate, hematite, labradorite, sardonyx and quartz to add colour and texture to our designs. These stones come from Boracay and Cebu in the Philippines, as well as other countries across Asia. They’re then handed to our craftsmen here in Portugal who turn them into the finishing touches that bring our decor to life.
