Since Frato’s inception, we’ve been dedicated to leaving as small a mark on the planet as possible. Read on for ways in which we’re paving the way to a brighter, cleaner, more sustainable future.
OUR ENERGY SOURCES
We’re thanking the sun for keeping Frato in motion. During the recent transformation of our headquarters, we thought of how we could switch to a renewable source of energy and decided to harness the power of the Portuguese sun. Our recently installed solar panels will give us 87% of our energy, so we’ll only need 13% from other sources.
OUR MATERIALS
Our solar panels aren’t our first foray into sustainability. We use only premium, sustainably sourced materials and we hand pick suppliers who match our ethics.
Where possible we use recycled materials such as Econyl, which is made from recycled post-consumer waste salvaged from our oceans. The wood we use is also certified sustainable and comes from renewable sources.
When we do have to outsource, we do so with producers that we have handpicked to meet our values, such as the Sanderson Design Group who adhere to Planet Mark’s ZeroBy30 programme, committing to totally reduce their carbon emissions by 2030.
That’s just one way in which the wonderful people we partner with are helping the planet. We also source from Imatex who reuse the water used in their dying mill to water plants and gardens.
We don’t stop at the materials that we use, but the ones we don’t, too. Our waste fabrics, be them wires or canvas, are recycled.
OUR PRODUCTS
Our heritage lies in jewellery making and we’ve taken that care and attention to detail into the interiors we design. We invest in artisanal know-how and cutting edge technology to ensure each piece we create will last a lifetime, be it a sofa, side table or rug. We also manufacture at our own facility, giving us full control over our carbon footprint.
THE NEAR FUTURE
An industrial complex conceived for optimal performance and a minimal environmental footprint will be fully operational by the end of 2023. We believe this step will be decisive to our aspiration both on the productive and environmental fronts.
