The meaningful design is named after Tokyo’s upmarket shopping district, which was built on the site of a mint dating back to the Edo period (1603-1867) and is today an area steeped in history and self-assured elegance. Featuring a deceptively simple silhouette, the GINZA console pays homage to the iconic shape of Japan’s traditional torii gates, which are most commonly found at the entrance to a Shinto shrine where they symbolically mark the transition from the ordinary and everyday to the sacred.
Seamlessly crafted from delicately veined, mid-toned wood veneer, the GINZA console uses ornamental elements of brushed brass to emphasise its archetypal silhouette, which includes an upwardly curved top and an easily accessible open shelf. Ideally suited to hallways or transitional spaces, where its intrinsic inspirations will introduce a fresh energy, the GINZA console can also be combined with a stool or chair and transformed into an at-home workspace or dressing table – we hope you enjoy the design as much as we do.
